WITH THE HELP OF AN EXPERIMENT,DEMONSTRATE THE FERMENTATION OF SUGAR INTO ALCOHOL BY MICROORGANISMS.

The following below is the activity to demonstrate the fermentation of sugar into alcohol by microorganisms :-
Lets take yeast cells in a beaker containing sugar solution. Close the lid of the beaker and pass a glass tube from the beaker into another beaker containing lime water.

Observations :
Lime water turns milky in the presence of carbon dioxide. This is the standard test for checking the presence of carbon dioxide. This test indicates that the process of respiration occurs in yeast, which leads to the release of carbon dioxide gas in the beaker. Thew anaerobic conversion of sugar to carbon dioxide and alcohol by yeast is called Fermentation.
