Dear student,
Siblings sometimes get jealous or envious if their brother or sister get more attention. In this poem the poet's mother was extremely affectionate towards him. In the poem the poet writes about when he was ten years old, he was sleeping in his mother's lap. By seeing that, his older brothers and sisters were jealous. Being envious is not good, it leads to a lot of anger and hatred.
