 a young man, the first one from hosahalli to be sent to bangalore for study

although expresses changed views on marriage but follows the trqditional manner and leads a happy marrid life thereafter

despite his education in the city , he shows respect for the elders

agrees to acompany the narrator to astrologer but fails to see throgh tjhe game plan of the former

does not hides his thoughts from the narrator even though he had admitted to him of his views on marriage

is grateful to the narrator

names his son Shyama after him

Ranga was a boy from Hosahali who was send to banglore for higer studies.Onreturning he was the same and respected everybody . he was in favour of love marraiges and wanted to marry a girl matured enough . He company the narrator to the astrologer. he got marraided to Ratna. His marraige was an arrange marraige.He named his son Shayma after the name of narrator . Ranga was a person strpng in character but fails in his decisions in doing love marraige.
