Jaya was an eleven year old girl who was wearing a long banian that reached down to her knees. She had stiff brownish hair and a rough voice. She was a very confident girl who knew her mind very well. She was a very poor girl and worked as a rag picker. Although she had no money, yet she helped Velu get some food because she had a kind streak in her character. She was a hard working girl and even as she talked to Velu, she did not stop picking up things like bottles and cans.
