Write a dialogue between you and your friend on the topic friends and flatterers
Dear student,
Such questions are meant to test your writing skills and should be attempted on your own. However, these points might help you elaborate:
A: How are you? Why haven't you been coming to school?
B: I had gone to Italy to participate in the Sudoku championship.
A: That is wonderful. How did you fare?
B: I did not do very well. I realised that my level of solving the puzzle was much lower than that of many international players.
A: Never mind. I am sure you will do better next time.
B: It is so good to talk to you: some of my other 'so-called' friends were rather keen to talk to me before I went for the competition. They used to praise me to the hilt, hover around me and send me encouraging messages.
A: So, what is wrong in that?
B: The 'wrong' bit is that they are nowhere to be seen after learning that I did not do well at the international level.
A: Then, they were only flatterers, not friends!
B: You are right. I have realised the importance of a true friend only now: I need friends who can tell me where I am going wrong, not just praise me falsely all the time. I still remember how you once told me that I needed to spend more time practising my skill.
