 Lushkoff is the main character in the story. He is a beggar, with a different style. He does not have integrity of character. He tells different lies, to gain money from people. He is an alcoholic and his clothes are dirty and untidy. Due to the alcohol, his physical and mental health is also poor. But he also possess some positive sides, like his willingness to accept his mistake and change, bear patiently the scolding of Olga and firmness to stop drinking.
