  • Cornlaws were actions enforced in Britain in  the first half of  the 18th century.
  • These laws imposed restrictions and tarriffs on imported grains.
  • The corn law became politically important in the late eighteenth and first half of the nineteenth century when the grain shortage caused due to growing population of the Britain and by the restriction imposed in the Napoleonic wars.
  • The corn laws were designed to keep grain prices high for the benefit of domestic producers.
