Write a short note on ijaradari system

The right to collect taxes was auctioned by the BRITISH to the highest bidders. These bidders were usually the highly influential mahajans of the eighteenth century. ONCE they got the right to collect the taxes, the bankers had to promise to pay a fixed SOME of amount to the state. THIS SYSTEM OF COLLECTION OF TAXES WAS KNOWN AS THE IJADARI SYSTEM.
