write a short note on industrial disaster with example

An industrial disaster refers to any  accident mainly occurring due to technical failure or irresponsible handling of hazardous material. One may give example of a Bhopal gas tragedy in which poisonous gases like Methyl Isocynate leaked out of the pesticide factory of Union Carbide.

Some reduction measures are:

1. Densely populated residential areas should be separated far away from the industrial areas.
2. People staying in the vicinity of industries should be aware of the storage of toxins or hazardous substances and their possible effects in case if an accident occurs.
3. Fire warning and fighting system should be improved.
4. Storage capacity of toxic substances should be limited.
5. Pollution dispersion qualities in the industries should be improved.
6. Night shifts of employees.
7. Adequate training to the workers.

There are also many kinds of industrial disasters. The fast ones that result in many deaths make the news all over the world when they happen. The slow ones that kill or cripple people over long periods of time take a lot more work to discover, and to research.

For a good example of a "slow" disaster, google old news stories for the Love Canal disaster (a case of toxic waste dumping, complicated by company and government cover-ups) in New York State, USA.

And then, there was the Chernobyl nuclear power-plant disaster, in Russia. You'll have no trouble finding information on this one.

In recent years, there have been many explosions at gas and other fuel plants, in the US, Australia, and Central and South America.

Fireworks factories around the world are notorious for explosions that kill and destroy.

There was a famous case in the late 1980s or early 1990s, of a train carrying tanker-cars of chlorine gas that de-railed, and forced the evacuation of thousands from homes in a very large area. That was in the southern USA.

In the 1980s, there was an explosion in the streets of a large town in Mexico, caused by a build-up of toxic explosive gases in the storm-sewer system. That one was caused by an undetected leak in pipes going into a dis-used warehouse. Would you count this as an industrial disaster? (It certainly wasn't a "natural" disaster!)

Of course, you probably know already about the disaster at the pesticide plant in Bhopal, India.
