Write a short note on rearing of silkworms.

Dear student
Process of obtaining silk from silkworm is known as a sericulture.
This process begins with washing the silkworm eggs stored over the winter. After the hatching of eggs the larvae are spread out on trays to grow for about a month. When larvae become cocoons they all are transferred to a pot of hot water, which kills the worms and loosens the filaments and lets the cocoons float freely. After that filaments from several cocoons are reeled off together to make a strong thread.

Sericulture, or silk farming, is the rearing of silkworms for the production of raw silk. Silkworms are reared under suitable conditions of temperature and humidity to obtain silk threads from their cocoons. The female silk moth lays hundreds of eggs. These are stored on strips of cloth or paper.
