write a short note on the role of rajkumar shukla in gandhi's first successful campaign for the rights of indian peasants

Rajkumar Shukla played a significant role in Champaran Movement for the rights of peasants.  He invited Gandhiji to visit Champaran. He was an illiterate but a resolute sharecropper. He did not revert until he finalised a date with Gandhiji when he would be free to go to his district. He took him to the house of Rajendra Prasad after which Gandhiji analysed the actual situation of sharecroppers. This led to a series of events which culminated in getting a repayment of 25% of amount. This was the first victory in Champaran Movement the credit for which should equally be distributed as much for Shukla as for Gandhi. He was the one who was determined to do something about the unfair taxes and therefore, reached to Gandhiji for help.
