The Benevolent Stranger

The young man seemed to be very helpful. He told us that he could help us to find a way out of the forest and then back to home. He slowly trucked behind him towards the main road but to our shock we were taken towards a camp of hill people. As we moved closer to the camp, we could see a troop of men with their guns on their shoulders smoking under a tree. I could smell danger as I was afraid that we were among a naxalite troop. I felt that rebellion may be dangerous so, I decided to follow the directions of the man. We were comfortably seated in a hut and offered food and water. I felt as if it was the last meal with my family. I ate meagrely with a heavy heart for departing from my family. I was constantly regretting the decision to accept help from the man, when the man told us to move into separate quarters for rest. I refused to move into separate quarters because I did not feel it safe for my family. The man smiled at me and politely arranged for all the beddings in one room. I could not sleep that night as I was worried against an attack during our sleep. Next morning, we were called and I thought it was the time for our execution. I hugged my family tightly and as we came out, I was astonished to see a big truck outside. I was ashamed at my thinking and hugged the man tightly. I could not thank him in words  for the arrangement for our journey.
