Reading is one of the major activities which need consideration in the school level. It is so because a child needs to read in order to master most of the other subjects. Understanding problems of Maths and issues discussed in social studies would be extremely difficult if one can't read words. Thus, some of the numerous advantages of reading could be listed as under:

• It plays a great role in building and enhancing the comprehensive skills of an individual.

• It is a continuous mental process which would sharpen the aptitude and understanding level of an individual. Unlike sitting in front of the television, reading requires the brain to process information.

• Reading helps to boost self-esteem. The habit of reading accompanies gaining knowledge. With acquirement of knowledge comes more confidence. More confidence builds self-esteem thus making it a chain reaction.

• Reading about diversity of life and exposing yourself to new ideas and more information helps to develop the creative side of the brain as it imbibes innovation into your thinking process.

• Reading gives you an insight into the diversity of ethnicity of people, their customs, their lifestyles etc. One becomes more aware about the different places and the code of conduct followed by people belonging to different regions.
