Write an article on the topic- Child labour-a curse to society.
By definition child labor is the practice of having children engage in economic activity. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is detrimental to their physical and mental development. Extreme Poverty, lack of good schools in remote areas, illiteracy among parents, social mindset and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labor in India.
The presence of a large number of child laborers is regarded as a serious issue in terms of economic welfare. It is also abolition of their fundamental right of “an equal opportunity to all”. Children who work fail to get necessary education. They do not get the opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and psychologically. Children in hazardous working conditions are even in worse condition. Children who work, instead of going to school, will remain illiterate which limits their ability to contribute to their own well being as well as to community they live in. Child labor has long term adverse effects for this country.
In order to tackle this horrendous practice G2S wishes to act as a catalyst and a facilitator to lighten up these children’s lives by providing opportunities to help these children shape their future in a much better way. We need help from all of you to accomplish this objective.
