My favourite place on earth is my native place, a place unseen on the globe of the world. Its located in the central part of the Southern state of Kerala. The richness of nature and the smell of the soil remind me at once that I am at home. The rain waters that fall on the soil bring everything to life. And it is indeed a sight to behold.
Laying before my eyes is a green paddy field where the men and women endure tirelessly to provide crops to a great part of the country's population. The land is composed of farmers and middle class people who work to make ends meet. The culture of the people is based on their religious beliefs and people follow traditions based on these. The most important festival of the people is Onam. It is also the harvest festival when the crops are reaped. The simplicity of the lives of the people and their faith in God makes me fall in love with the place over and over again. However, the narrow mindedness of the people is yet to take a change. It is important that the people live in the present and realise that the times have changed. They ought to come out of their shells and face the challenges posed by the world outside.
