Yumi was the nurse of Sadao and Hana’s children.She was quite attached to the kids. She was quite a patriotic woman. She refused to wash Tom when Hana asked her to do so. When Sadao did not hand over the P.O.W. to the police in spite of the servants’ protests, she also decided to leave Sadao’s house. She took this decision quite unwillingly. However, when P.O.W. went away, she along with the other servants rejoined their duties at Sadao’s house.
