World war I
.The instability of the powers created in Europe due to First World War (1914-18) set the stage for another international conflict as World War II, which broke out after two decades.
.This was fought between the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, Japan) and the Allied Powers (Britain, United States, Soviet Union, France).
.Most of the countries in the world took part in this in some way
.It was considered as the deadliest war in all of human history as around 70 million people were killed.
.This started in 1939 when Hitler attacked Poland. Great Britain and France responded to this by declaring war on Germany.
.The war in Europe ended with Germany's surrender on 7th May, 1945.
. The attack on Pearl Harbor, forces the Americans to enter World War II, and on 8th Dec., Congress declared war on Japan with only one dissenting vote. Due to which Axis powers declared war on U.S.
.The war in the Pacific ended when Japan surrendered on 2nd September, 1945. This was considered as turning point in the war.
. In 1945, U.S. President Harry, Churchill and Stalin discussed the ongoing conditions of the war with Japan as well as the peace pact with Germany
. Germany, after the war will be divided into four different occupation zones, that should be controlled by the Soviet Union, Britain, the United States and France

- In the year 1914, War broke out between two European alliances
- Germany, Austria and Turkey were known as Central powers
- France, Britain and Russia were on the other side
- This was the First World War.
- The main cause of the world war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
- The other root cause of the war was : social inequality, political and economical crisis.
- In the Western front of the war, armies fought from the trenches
- With fast movement of armies, Russia lost badly in Germany and Austria by 1916
- When the Russians retreated they created much damage to buildings and crops
- This was mainly done due to prevention of enemy entering their region
- As a result, Germany cut off the supplies to Russia
- They broke railway network too
- Industries could not run due to lack of raw materials
- Unemployment problem arose and people starved
- With the intervention of America, German power collapsed and thus, First World War came to an end by Treaty of Versailles.
