Write short note on army reorganization.

Dear Student,
After 1857 revolt, there was a systematic reorganization of the Army to prevent the recurrence of another such revolt.  The proportion of Europeans to Indians was fixed at 1: 2 in the Bengal Army and 2: 5in the Madras and Bombay Armies. The Indian portions of army were organised on the policy of divide and rule and balance.The Indians were not allowed to rise above the post of Subedar and were given inferior weapons. The Indian section of the army was used for expansion in other areas like rest of Asia and Africa, while Europeans were used for expansion in India.
