Stupa

Stupa is a dome shaped building erected as a Buddhist shrine. The shape of the stupa represents the Buddha, crowned and sitting in meditation posture on a lion throne. His crown is the top of the spire; his head is the square at the spire's base; his body is the vase shape; his legs are the four steps of the lower terrace; and the base is his throne. 

Types of stupas:

  • Relic stupa
  • Object stupa
  • Commemorative stupa
  • Symbolic stupa
  • ​Votive stupa.

the word stupa means a mound . while there are different types of stupa round and tall , big and small, these stupas have a common features generally there is a box which is placed in the middle of the stupa in this box it contains the body remains of teeth or bones of buddah
