Write the character sketch of the Hack driver. (8)

Dear Student,

Hack driver was Oliver Lutkins himself. He fooled people and never portrayed his real identity in front of the strangers. He was a dishonest person who  played a lot of poker and was good at deceiving people. He owed money to many people, but he never paid anybody a cent. It was hard to make him part with his money. In order to escape the summons, Lutkins played the role of the hack driver and also acted smartly. Everybody in the village was aware of his mischievous deeds. Lutkins' act of fooling the lawyer indicates that he is a very cunning person.  He doesn't like to disclose his true identity to unknown persons. The lawyer being inexperienced and new to the field falls a victim to Lutkins' trick.

The hack driver is the central character in the story.He is very clever person.He is able to befool the narrator when he goes to serve summons him.He is wanted as a witness im a legal case but he has ignored all the narrator is asked to go to new mullion to serve a notice to him.
Lutkin is a good actor he plays his part so well the young lawyer suspect him as lutkin tells him that lutkin is always upto one mischief and the other and he owes his money.He takes the lawyer to different places.He charges two dollar per hours for hack ride.He also persaudes the young lawyer to buy lunch from his place.Thus he earns some dollars also.Lutkin behaviour prove that apperances are deceptive.we should never take anybody at his face value.We can be deceived just like the narrator.
