Six properties of magnets

(1) Every magnet has two poles; a North pole and a South pole.

(2) Opposite poles attract while similar poles repel and the size of poles determine its strength.

(3) A freely suspended magnet always points towards the north-south direction.

(4) Magnetic forces are stronger at the two poles than anywhere else along its length.

(5) Every magnet has magnetic field lines which form close loops pointing from north to south pole.

(6) A magnet tends to attract other magnetic material like iron, nickel, cobalt etc.
