xef4 is polar or nonpolar

XeF4 is non-polar based on its symmetric square planar structure and also

XeF4 has 2 lone pairs on Xe .The lone pairs are opposite to each other and their attraction/repulsion is cancelled. It is a molecule with octahderal electron pair geometry and square planar molecular geometry.

The four Fluorine (F) atoms (more electronegative) form polar covalent bonds with the four electrons of Xenon (Xe) making it symmetrical. As the molecule is symmetrical, all forces within the molecule cancel out each other. This makes the compound nonpolar.

It is non polar. The central Xe atom has 4 Fluorine atoms and two electron pairs attached giving it AB4E2 molecular structure. This leads to a square planar molecular shape. F is more electronegative than Xe and is thus a polar covalent bond, but the 4 bonds in a square cancel out, and the electron pair on top and bottom of the "square plane" cancel each-other out as well, leaving you with a non polar molecule.

XeF4 is non-polar based on its Lewis Structure. The four Fluorine (F) atoms form bonds with the four electrons of Xenon (Xe) making it symmetrical. As the molecule is symmetrical, all forces within the molecule negate each other. This makes the compound nonpolar.
