XY is drawn parallel to the base BC of a triangle ABC cutting AB at X and AC at Y .If AB= 4BX and YC = 2cm ,then AY =?

de options r..
a. 2cm
b. 4cm
c. 6cm
d. 8cm.

plz answer...and also justify ur answer..plzzz

 Its option C)6cm,

Reason-->

Using Thales theorem,

AB=4BX

similarly,

4CY=AC

Given CY=2cm, Now,

AC+4CY=4*2=8cm

Now, AY=AC-CY=8-2=6cm

Hope it helps!
