'Yes' I said, 'you get so used to touching all these lovely things in your house,you hardly look at them anymore. you only notice when something is missing , because it has to be repaired or because you have lent it, for example'. What does these lines reflect ?

Dear student 

In the following lines, the narrator talks about the missing items from her house, saying that she only noticed the objects when they had been taken away. In a metaphorical sense, the narrator was actually talking about her own mother. She took the presence of her mother for granted when she was still alive. She felt the absence of her mother dearly, only after she had been taken away from the narrator, in the form of her death during the war.
