A district-level science exhibition was organised by the Department of School Education and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan at the OCPM Girls Higher Secondary School here on Friday.
Inaugurating the exhibition, Collector L. Subramanian said that the best way to improve scientific temper among students was to involve them in study of natural sciences.
Students from around 85 government schools in Madurai, mostly from Class 9 to Class 12, participated in the exhibition.
Ten best experiments selected from the exhibition were awarded a price of Rs.1000.
Experiments highlighting issues like air pollution, flood management and dengue awareness and also innovative models like device for climbing lamp post were exhibited.
J. Angelo Irudayasamy, Chief Educational Officer, K. Selvakumar, Joint Director of Education (Kallar Reclamation), and S. Nadarajan, Educational Officer (in-charge) of Madurai Corporation, also addressed the students.
