How often does your Mom or Dad keep reminding you to do things in a “proper manner”? It is as if there’s a written rule for everything for them (parents, I tell you! :P). But as Spider-Man says ‘With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility’, there’s no harm in following certain set of unwritten rules to become more organised in our day-to-day activities. Here are 5 habits that you might want to incorporate in your lifestyle as a student:
1. Studying and reviewing material right after class, every day or evening. A little bit of daily review will help you avoid the late-night cramming before any class test. Make a study plan that works for you.
2. Setting personal deadlines 3-4 days before the actual deadline. This will give you some extra time for any editing/rewriting or even emergencies that could come. No more “Ah, I have a 10-page essay due tomorrow!” at 11 pm anymore!
3. Using a good calendar/planner/organizer. This will help you with seeing what’s coming up and due in the next weeks. There are various apps online that you can find useful and easy to access or you can go the old-school way of maintaining a journal.
4. Keeping the room and bag tidy. Needless to be said but it will actually help you to keep away the distractions and feeling of clutter in your head. Spend time cleaning your room before studying. You’ll be more focused and will be able to concentrate better.
5. Prioritizing tasks. Asking yourself, what’s due the earliest and what’s more important to get done? What can wait? What do I need to be sharp and attentive for? Give priority to the most important assignment and finish it. You’ll save time and experience less stress.
