AIPMT 2015 Result Cancelled, SC Orders Re-examination in 4 Weeks

UPDATE (Jun 20, 2015): The SC has extended the time given to the CBSE to re-conduct the AIPMT 2015, and directed them to hold the test and declare result by August 17. The CBSE had filed a plea stating that it was ‘impossible’ to reconduct the exam within 4 weeks, as directed earlier by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has cancelled the result declaration for AIPMT 2015 and asked the CBSE to hold a retest in 4 weeks. This verdict affects over 6.3 lakh medical aspirants who appeared for the AIPMT 2015 exam held on May 3, 2015.

The SC bench, consisting of justice RK Agarwal and justice Amitava Roy, has ordered that fresh tests must be held within a month. They have also asked all institutes involved in the AIPMT exam process to completely co-operate with the CBSE to conduct the retest. “Why should the students who burnt the midnight oil to prepare for the test suffer at the hands of those who adopted unfair practices? Not even a single meritorious candidate should be affected. The sanctity of the process needs to be protected,” the Bench said.

What This Means For the Students?

1. The 6.3 lakh students, from 1,050 centres in 53 cities, who appeared for the AIPMT 2015 exam will now have to give the test again. (Start Preparing Now)

2. Students have about 4 weeks of time to prepare for the AIPMT restest. Students are worried as re-examination might take away many of their chances in getting seats in prestigious medical colleges.

3. The AIPMT retest could also delay the 2015-16 session by more than a month as the procedures into the admission in medical colleges will be delayed. The students fear that the delay in session might put pressure on them to complete the syllabus.

The AIPMT 2015 exam result was originally scheduled to be declared by the CBSE on June 5, 2015. However, due to a large number of petitions filed alleging the leakage of the paper, the Supreme Court had to step in. The court asked the police to identify all the beneficiaries, estimated to be about 700 in number, and eliminated from the results. However, the police were able to identify only 44 beneficiaries, thereby putting the sanctity of the AIPMT result at stake. The SC bench therefore has ordered a re-examination for the AIPMT 2015.
