back to school_parentsAs summer comes to an end, it can be quite hard to get back into a regular schedule – for both kids and parents. It is important to plan for the child’s first few days of the school. Children can take clues from their parents. If parents are calm, optimistic and supportive, children too will feel confident and competent when they get back to school.

Few things that parents can do for themselves and their kids to ensure a smooth transition is to plan ahead. Identify some strategies to stay organised and help ease your child seamlessly back into school and manage your own stress. You can take a look below at few ways you can help to your kids to stay on track.

Set the Stage: Create a bedtime routine in advance. This will ensure that your child gets a good 8-9 hours of sleep. Their bodies can take a while to adjust. By the time they hear the school bell ring, kids will be already on their sleeping schedule and less worries for you.

Plan Healthy Lunches and Snacks: It is better to plan out the healthy meals for your child. Kids can be fuzzy when it comes to eating vegetables and fruits. Creating interesting and colourful protein-rich snacks and lunches, balanced with fruits, vegetable and nuts will increase your child’s interest in different foods and ensure they have the energy to make it through school. Packing fun-looking lunches can be your personal project too.

Organise A-Z: Make sure that your child has washed and ironed sets of uniforms before he/she steps back into school. Clean shoes and laces, nails trimmed and other materials required must be ready beforehand to keep you tension free. Buy all the stationery that your child will need when he/she joins the school. Encourage your child to pack their bags before they go to sleep.

Learning At Home: Help your child to devise a timetable that suits them and you. Ensure that your child does not miss on their playtime while completing their homework or doing chores. Encourage children to read and learn a new hobby.

Chat About Today’s Events and Tomorrow’s Plans: Asking your child how their day was at school will make a huge difference in their communication skills and help you understand them better. It is important for both kids and parents to be on the same page for better coordination. Last-minute drills at the end of day can help kids reminding them of what they’ve forgotten and prepare for next day properly.

Talk To Your Child About Bullying: Research shows that one in three kids experience bullying at some point in their school career—and in the increasingly digital world, the consequences can be extreme. Make sure your kids understand the right way to treat their peers, and when to speak up if they see someone else being bullied. Also make sure they know when to come to you if they feel they are being bullied.

Great Tips Meritnation. I believe that the first tip applies to sophomores as well because Summer Vacation is the only period when they can relax and rest for considerable amount of time.
    Waiting for more informative posts…
