The CBSE Board exam for class 12 Biology was conducted today. Here’s an analysis of the paper from our Biology expert at Meritnation:

This year, the Biology Exam took a different route and was filled with application-based questions. The questions were framed from the NCERT textbook but inclined more towards reason and logic rather than being direct in approach. Questions based on haplontic life cycle, apomixis, genetic drift, etc., were tricky to solve.

However, long-answer type questions based on population ecology, succession and gametogenesis were easier. Questions from cross-breeding, population density etc were directly asked from the NCERT textbook paragraphs. There was a glimpse of previous year’s questions from ecosystem, diagrams of human reproductive system, useful microbes, and reproductive health.

Set-1 offered a unique question asking for posters based on maternal and child health. To conclude, the exam was above average in difficulty level. The students were made to explore many aspects of the subject and had to present creative answers to tackle the nature of the questions.
