The Central Board of Secondary Education has put together a revised list of examination guidelines for students of classes 9 and 10. According to the latest circular, CBSE has made it compulsory for all students in classes 9 and 10 to be present for both Summative Assessments- SA 1 and SA 2. In case they are not able to sit for SA 1 due to an illness, the school has to allow another attempt till 31st October.
So, hard luck for all you students who thought that you could skip SA 1! CBSE is leaving no stone unturned in its aim to make you develop an interest in your studies!
There is more. CBSE has also made some changes to the passing norms. Students now have to obtain a minimum of 25% in both the exams to clear the year. This means that one will have to score at least 15 out of 60 marks and a total of 33% in each of the five subjects to qualify the exam. But why worry! In case you could not appear for SA1 because you were participating in sports at the National or International level, you may be granted an exemption from appearing in any one of the Summative Assessments, subject to prior approval of the Board. The other requirements for exemption are that the sports event is organized by recognized federations/CBSE/SGFI, is conducted during the month of the conduct of the Summative Assessment and your request is duly accompanied with supporting documents.
These rules will be applicable from the academic year, 2014-2015 onwards.

Dear Meritnation,
One of the school in Goa had 12 students and school failed to get the CBSE affiliation. The students are yet to be admitted in other CBSE affiliated school.
Meanwhile, SA-1 are scheduled on 23rd September in Goa.
Children who take late admissions (with late fees) till 31st October, how the SA-1 can be scheduled for such students if they are missing regular SA-1 scheduled in September? Is there any provision / rule to take care of such students?

The datesheet for the SA1 exams is out on the CBSE website. Exams will begin from the 1st week of September.

hi,
iam a student of class 11th.after hearing the CBSE passing criteria i was shocked and was happy that i just got rid of it. but i now feel sorry for the present students of class 9th and 10th.
this is the comment for the students:-
dear friends, 25% passing percentage is not much. most of you will crack it easily if you even just go through meritnation alone thouroughly and study it deeply. 9th and 10th are the two most important academic years for you to shape up your ambition. “WORK HARDER TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS EASILY” and study well for you SAs.ALL THE BEST.
