SA2 Science Class 7SA2 or the Summative Assessment II is just around the corner and all Class 7 students must have ideally created a revision timetable and begun their revisions. If you haven’t yet done so, then we recommend you do this now. This is a good approach rather than leaving things to the last days of their preparation. It is most important to prioritize what topics are important in Class 7 CBSE Science and create your timetable accordingly.

Science is a subject that needs to be studied with a structure because a lot of the concepts are interconnected. To score more and to be prepared to tackle all the tough questions in the subject, pay attention to the list of important chapters below:

     b) Moisture in soil
     c) Absorption of water by soil
4. Soil and crop relationship

Method for Quick Understanding:
1. Learn characteristics of different horizons of soil
     a) A-Horizon: Top soil (Soft, porous and retain more water)
     b) B-Horizon: Middle layer (Harder and more compact)
     c) C-Horizon: Third layer (Small lumps of rock)
     d) Bedrock: Hard and difficult to dig
2. Learn and practise formula used to calculate percolation rate of water and absorption of water by soil.
3. Understand and learn experiment to observe moisture in soil and definition of shimmering.

MERITNATION TIPS:
a) Learn about soil profile by practising its diagram.
b) You must learn all the formulae in the chapter and practise questions associated to them to get a good score.
c) Learn the characteristics of the three types of soil.

Chapter 16 – Water: A Precious Resource

Important Topics:
1. Distribution of water on the Earth
2. Forms of water
3. Water cycle
4. Ground water
5. Water table
6. Infiltration
7. Aquifer
8. Factors responsible for depletion of water table
     a) Increasing industries
     b) Agricultural activities
     c) Increasing population
9. Water management (water harvesting)
10. Water saving habits

Method for Quick Understanding:
1. Understand and learn about different sources of freshwater.
2. Understand how water on the earth is managed by various processes that result in the water cycle.
3. Understand and learn the concept of groundwater and the various terms related to it.

MERITNATION TIPS:
a) From exam point of view, the concept of groundwater is an important aspect.
b) Also understand and learn terms related to groundwater like water table, infiltration, aquifer.
c) Prepare short note on the topics like depletion of water table and water management.

Chapter 14 – Electric Current and its Effects

Important Topics:
1. Electronic Components & Circuit
2. Electric cell & Battery
3. Heating Effect of Current
4. Magnetic Effect of Current
5. Electric Fuse & MCB
6. Electromagnet & Electric Bell

Method for Quick Understanding:
1. We see so many electronic devices around us like bulb, fan, remote, iron heater etc. Few of them run on cell while others on direct current supply or batteries. Make circuits with their circuit diagrams.
2. Take a television remote and see how you arrange the cells and form a battery. Check how negative terminal is connected to positive and so on.
3. When electric current flows through a wire, the wire gets heated up. This heating effect of current is used in devices like bulb, room heater and electric iron.
4. Electric fuse used in our household is based on the same concept and is used to prevent the electric fires. Similarly, a current carrying wire acts as a temporary magnet. This magnetic effect of current is used to make strong electromagnets like in electric bell and transistors etc.

MERITNATION TIPS:
a) Practise the circuit diagrams of electric bell and other electric circuits.
b) Heating effect of current and magnetic effect of current are very important topics.

Method for Quick Understanding:
1. Light travels in a straight line and is composed of seven colors. Rainbows is a natural phenomenon which supports this. Light also reflects back when is incident on a smooth surface. Mirrors are based on the same concept. Image is formed in the plane mirror due to reflection of light. The image formed is virtual, erect and laterally inverted.
2. You see so many other types of optical objects also around you, like spoon, rear view mirrors in vehicle, magnifying glasses, mirrors at blind turns, shaving mirrors etc.
3. Some of them form real image and some also forms virtual images.
4. The mirror which is bulged out is convex mirror. It forms erect, virtual image which is smaller in size. It is also used as magnifying glass.
5. The mirror which is bulged in is concave mirror. It can form both real and virtual image.
