SA2 exams are inching closer day by day. Students are engrossed in their books and revision notes, reading the chapters and practicing questions. Practice becomes all the more relevant when it comes to Mathematics.
To help you with your SA2 exams, our team of experts at Meritnation have created a list of tips and tricks to help you solve the Maths mystery and score more than 90 per cent marks!
Important Topics:
1. Plot the graphs of linear equations in two variables
2. Solve problems related to graphical solution of linear equations in two variables
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Mark the points neatly in the graph. b) Avoid careless mistakes while finding the solution to the equations. |
Important Topics:
1. Prove and use that “the diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other” and its converse
2. Prove and use that “a quadrilateral is a parallelogram if a pair of opposite sides is equal and parallel”
3. Solve problems involving the mid point theorem and its converse
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Practise all questions and examples from the NCERT textbook. b) Be thorough with the properties of the parallelogram and its applications. c) Draw neat and proper diagrams with labels. |
Important Topics:
1. Prove and use that “Parallelograms on the same base and between the same parallels are equal in area”
2. Prove and use that “If a parallelogram and a triangle lie on the same base and between the same parallels, then the area of the triangle is one-half the area of the parallelogram”
3. Prove and use that “Two triangles on the same base (or equal bases) and between the same parallels are equal in area”
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Practise all questions and examples from the NCERT textbook. b) Show your effort by writing at the introductory steps and sketch out figures/diagrams/tables relevant to the questions when running short of time. c) In case you get stuck while solving any question, don’t panic. Leave appropriate space and don’t cross out some of the steps that you may have written. This ensures that even if you don’t find time to solve this question, the examiner will give some marks as stepwise marking system is followed in this exam. |
Important Topics:
1. Prove and use the theorem “equal chords of a circle subtend equal angles at the centre” and its converse
2. Prove and use the theorem “equal chords of a circle (or of congruent circles) are equidistant from the center (or centers)” and its converse
3. Use the property that “Congruent arcs (or equal arcs) of a circle subtend equal angles at the center” to solve problems
4. Prove and use the theorem “the angle subtended by an arc at the centre is double the angle subtended by it at any point on the remaining part of the circle”
5. Prove and use the theorem “The sum of either pair of opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral is 180º” and its converse
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Draw neat figures wherever needed. b) Theorems should be written in a proper format. c) While answering the questions, make sure that all the steps are written along with the reason. |
Important Topics:
1. Construct Angles of Special Measures Using Ruler and Compass and verify the validity of the construction
2. Construct a triangle given its base, sum/difference of the other two sides and one base angle; and understand the reasoning behind the construction
3. Construct a triangle given its perimeter and the base angles; and understand the reasoning behind the construction
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Use only sharpened pencils for constructions. b) Make a rough figure of the question asked, then proceed with the actual diagram. c) After the diagram is formed, do not forget to name it. d) Steps of construction should be according to the name used and is easy to understand. |
Important Topics:
1. Surface Area of Right Circular Cylinders, Both Hollow and Solid
2. Students compute the surface areas of cones
3. Students compute the surface areas of spheres and hemispheres
4. Volume of Right Circular Cylinders, Both Hollow and Solid
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Draw neat and clean figures wherever required. b) Proper dimensions should be used. c) Make sure you learn and revise all the formulas of mensuration. |
Important Topics:
1. Students construct histograms in which, more than one class intervals are grouped together
2. Students read and interpret histograms in which, more than one class intervals are grouped together
3. Students construct frequency polygons both by drawing histograms and independently
4. Solve problems related to finding medians of data sets in cases where the number of terms is even or odd
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Avoid calculation mistakes. b) Draw neat tables before starting the question. c) The bar graphs and other graphs should be neat and clear. d) All points should be neatly marked in the graphs. e) Make sure that you recheck the calculations. |
Important Topics:
1. Find probabilities of occurrence and nonoccurrence of events with the help of given experiments and highlight the effect of the increase in the number of trials
MERITNATION TIPS: a) Be confident with the concept of probability. b) Focus on NCERT questions. c) Read the question thoroughly before answering. |
All the best with your SA2 revisions and exams!
