Chemistry can be a nightmare for many. Though the subject may seem a little complicated but with some extra effort, hard work and smart learning you can easily ace the subject. A challenging subject like Chemistry needs a lot of attention and understanding of concepts, both for students appearing for Boards and especially from the perspective of JEE and AIPMT aspirants. Here are some tips to help you concoct the correct formula to ace the subject:
1. Reading all parts : Reading each chapter in detail is important. Organic, Inorganic, Physical and Metallurgy – all parts are equally important. You don’t want to skip or underestimate anything. Study the NCERT textbooks thoroughly.
2. Prepare notes : Notes will help you to organise in a better manner. Mark the important topics for reasoning such as the ‘P block elements, d & f block elements’.
3. Learn the formulas : Write down the various formulas and place them strategically on your study table or place them on the wall.
4. Focus on problem areas : Some students find organic chemistry challenging. You might want to begin with this part first. Also make sure that you have not spared any topic that might look easy but can be difficult.
5. Revise and Review : Once you’re clear with the concepts and have memorised the formulas, revise every portion you’ve studied. Reviewing and revising will help you to retain the information for a longer time.
6. Solve previous years’ papers : It’s now time to test your solving skills and knowing your capabilities. Look for model papers and previous years’ question papers to have a better idea of the pattern and hone your skills.
7. Practice and time yourself : Conversions, main reactions and logic questions should be practiced regularly on a daily basis.
1. Make a list of the topics you are well versed with and the topics you need to work on.
2. Practice drawing the graphics neatly and always label them correctly.
3. Practical is important, you must memorize tests and results of the Salt analysis.
4. Chemistry numericals are easy; choose numericals over theory.
5. Be extra careful while attempting organic chemistry conversions and reactions. A minor error can get you stuck on the reaction.
