Now that you have crossed one more level of your school life as a CBSE student, there is bound to be a lot of excitement and nervousness. Of course, there is going to be a lot of planning too, with respect to how you would want to spend the next year. As you climb higher on the rungs of your school life, the workload, the pressure and maybe the amount of effort you need to put into your academics will go up. All this can actually to be a lot of fun, if only you play your cards right. By that, we mean, students in CBSE schools can plan their academic year ahead and overcome all hurdles they expect, beforehand.

Planning an entire year ahead may sound extremely impractical as there are several things that tend to happen differently. One academic year as a CBSE student means you have breaks, exams, tests, classes and extracurricular events as well. However, it becomes easier to fare well in class, if you set some goals and targets for the year. A schedule aids you in studying better, preparing for CBSE exams and creating a better balance between studies and other activities. Here are a few tips on how you can plan your year better:

bulb_idea_iconTake a look at the entire annual calendar

At the beginning of an annual year, you usually get an idea about when your exams, holidays and unit tests (if any) are to take place. Check for the days when you have classes and when you have exams. A lot of preparation for exams happens during summer vacations and festival breaks too.

When going on a fun trip with family or friends, you do not want to be continuously thinking about your studies, pending homework and missed classes, right? Make enough arrangements beforehand. You can ask a friend or classmate to keep tab of the things you are missing and later on, he or she can update you. And make sure you take notes after you get back, about all that you missed, as well.

bulb_idea_iconPre-plan your exam schedule

Since CBSE students have to appear for summative assessments, (SA1 and SA2) in classes 9 and 10, they need to systemise their studies according to the same. When students get to know their SA1 and SA2 date sheets, or at the rough dates for the same, they should base their preparation accordingly.

At the beginning of the session, gather all the necessary notes you might require for your studies. Seniors, classmates or bookstores. Have all the study material like previous year’s notes, sample papers for Math and Science and CBSE Board Exam Papers ready at hand, so that you do not suffer from anxiety during or before exams.

ExtraCurricularActivitiesbulb_idea_iconPlan your extracurricular activities according to your academics

While it is extremely good to be focused on your academics, you wouldn’t be able to enjoy school life to the fullest unless you do not take up an additional hobby or interest to go with it. Extracurricular activities will enhance your school life to be better, more fun and will help you grow as a person. When you take up an activity of your choice, or if you are already pursuing something that you love, like sports, cultural activities, etc., just make sure you manage time well. Make sure neither your studies or interests suffer because of each other.

bulb_idea_iconLook at alternate mediums of studying for your new class

With the advent of the Internet, there are several options in the medium through which you want to carry out your academics. For instance, online learning has become a big rage among students. It’s fun, it’s quick and its exactly what you need to study better. Explore the web for options like these. One of the major online learning websites for today is meritnation.com. Hi Nadia,

The assumption of students who prepare during the days inching towards the exam & scoring better, is a false one. Students fall prey to this idea quite often and under pressure lose out on studying a major chunk of their syllabus. Students who study small portions daily retain more than a student who hurriedly goes through the chapter. We suggest you to read our articles, 10 Tips to Study Smart and Save Time and Study Productivity Tips: Getting The Results You Want for clarity regarding studying and learning.
