HRD Ministry announces University Rankings, IISc-Bengaluru tops the list

IISC Bengaluru1In a first, Human Resource Development Minister, Smriti Irani launched India’s first ever ‘India Rankings 2016’ under the National Institutional Ranking Framework. This indigenous ranking framework for higher education institutions has released a list of top 100 universities and institutes in Engineering, Management and Pharmacy. An independent agency, the National Bureau of Accreditation, working with the government, was responsible for validating the data submitted by the institutions.

While Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru topped the list of the best university in the country with a score of 91.81, IIT-Madras ranked number one in the top engineering college.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University and Hyderabad Central University bagged the third and the fourth position in the best university list.

The latest ranking system has been drafted under the NIRF to bring perspective to the educational aspirations & needs of the country. The parameters for the rankings include teaching, learning and resources, research and professional professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity & perception.
