Starting from 2013, CBSE will introduce the digitized marking system for both class 10th and 12th. Under this system, once the evaluation of answer sheets is complete, they will be scanned and put on screen to be evaluated by the examiners trained in using the software. The digitized answer sheets will also be available for scrutiny by the students. The main focus behind this move is to minimize the scope of errors during the evaluation of the answer sheets.

CBSE will be implementing the new system in two phases. The first phase of the digitalized marking of answer sheets will begin in March 2013 with digital marking of class 10 answer sheets. The second phase shall begin in March 2014 onwards where digital marking of class 12 answer sheets will also begin.

According to CBSE, the new evaluation system will not just ensure much less errors, but also enhance the quality and speed of the entire process. The new system is also bound to get transparency in evaluation and ensure compliance of RTI provision which makes it compulsory that the answer sheets should be made available for scrutiny to the students perusal.

Cheers!
