The reason for the creation of these pretty iron filing lines is that each little iron filing, when subject to a magnetic field, becomes a little dipole itself. This dipole feels the force of the magnet, and aligns in the direction of the field lines. This causes the clumping into lines that you see, as the opposite ends of the dipoles move together.

THIS IS LAST TIME I AM ASKING THE SAME QUESTION IF AGAIN GET THAT ANSWER THAT ITS BECAUSE OF LINES WITHOUT ANY REASON TO MY QUESTION I WILL UNDERSTAND THAT MERITNATION EXPERTS DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER.
Kindly answer my question......
The question is as follows:-
Q. "3 wires of radius 'R' each are placed mutually perpendicular to each other according to the the coordinate axes orientation with a common center, i.e., the origin.
If each wire has current 'I 'flowing through it , then find the net magnetic field at the centre,i.e. the origin."
why do iron fillings form discrete field lines even though magnetic field lines are discrete?
why there is space between lines when iron filings are sprinkled on a bar magnet??
