How does the uneven heating of the Earth lead to the generation of wind currents?
There are two situations that lead to the generation of wind currents:
i. Uneven heating of the Equator and the Poles: The Equator receives the maximum amount of heat from Sun. The air in the region of the 0 − 30° latitude belt on either side of the Equator becomes warm and moves toward the Equator from both sides. The air near the latitude of 60° in both the hemispheres is warmer than the air near the Poles. Hence, the warm air around these latitude belts rises up and the cold air from the Polar Regions rushes in to occupy the empty space. Thus, the uneven heating of the Equator and the Poles causes the circulation of wind that leads to the generation of wind currents.
ii. Uneven heating of land and water: In the summer months, land heats up faster than the sea. The air above the land gets heated up and rises. This causes winds to blow from the sea to the land. In winters the direction of wind is reversed. Thus, it causes circulation of winds.
is this true ?? please answer fast !!
