Changes in ICSE Evaluation System

The year 2014 will see a change in the evaluation of ICSE and ISC Board exams. All the past complaints, doubts and flaws experienced by students, teachers and authorities, related to ICSE Board exam results and the process of evaluation followed can be solved with the help of new improved technological changes being introduced. Students will now have to wait lesser for their results, teachers would have to struggle less with evaluation, computation of results for ICSE and ISC exams is to become smoother. Here are some changes the Board plans to incorporate into the ICSE and ISC Board system this year onwards: 1. Use of IT in a way that unique to educational Boards in India: The Board plans to make use of technological advancement in a big way. The computation and printing of results will involve less of manual labour and more of machinery and technology. 2. No allotment of index number for students: The students appearing for ICSE and ISC exams would not have be assigned any index numbers for their exams. Instead, each student would be allotted a unique ID. These unique IDs will be written on the ICSE Exam exam script and cannot be used by any student ever. ICSE Board students will be able to use these IDs for revaluation and re-examination purposes. The advantage of this method would be that examiners would not be able to look up students' schools, names and other details, which is very easily done through the index numbers. 3. Bar-coded Answer Scripts: Students will receive answer scripts that contain a special bar code, so that each answer script is unique. Since the barcodes are to be generated through a privately handled system, there are no chances that students could sneak in cheat sheets into the examination hall. The barcodes would also help in the evaluation of marks later. 4. Special Barcode Scanners: Examining the answer scripts becomes an easier task for examiners too, as there are to be barcode scanners at all the schools where they are supposed to sit and correct papers. Now, all teachers need to do is mark the papers and allot the marks on the OMR sheets attached to the answer scripts. The scanning of the answer sheets is increasingly automatically by these machines. A few Benefits of the New Evaluation System

  1. Students need to wait lesser for their ICSE/ISC exam results
  2. Examiners do not need to follow the lengthy process of feeding marks to computers
  3. Wrongful means on the examiners' part can be curbed to a great extent, so that student do not suffer
  4. Attempts of cheating on the students' part can be curbed, so that no student is marked unfairly.
  5. The overall experience of taking the exam becomes cooler, smoother and more efficient.
