October 5th, 2012

Application forms for the recently amended Joint Entrance Exam-Main, 2013, that is to be conducted by CBSE for engineering aspirants will be made available online from November 1, 2012. It is to be noted that there will be no offline or paper based application forms this year. In its latest press release, The Central Board of Secondary Education has clearly outlined the details stating that JEE MAINS will be the gateway to JEE Advanced which will be conducted by the IITs. JEE Main exam will be held in both online and offline modes for B.E. and B.Tech courses. The offline mode of examination will happen on the 7th of April, 2013. Online modes will be held thereafter. As mentioned earlier, the JEE Main exam can only be attempted thrice by one candidate. JEE- Main will filter out the top 1,50,000 ranks for the JEE- Advanced exam and only those who qualify in this exam and are amongst the top 20 percentile holders in their respective educational boards will be eligible to apply to the IITs, IIT-BHU and ISM Dhanbad. The rest of the rank holders will be eligible to apply for admission into centrally funded engineering institutes and other engineering colleges affiliated with the erstwhile AIEEE, UPTU, CET, etc exam systems. CBSE has also announced that it will be organizing facilitation centers for the candidates to aid them in the process of applying for the JEE-Main exam online. 43 centers all over India have been announced initially and the list will grow over the course of the next few weeks. You can avail the facilities provided free of cost at any of the facilitation centers on the list. The test will be in a multiple choice objective type format and you will be penalized for a wrong answer. So try to do only those questions that you are most sure about! Visually disabled persons are allowed to bring a writer and have also been provided with an extra hour to complete the exam. CBSE has also clarified that candidates who want to improve their academic performance in the board exams to be eligible for IIT admissions will have to necessarily appear for exams in all subjects again. I didn't understand top 20 percentile. Candidates who stood in Top 20 in their respective boards will able to give JEE Advanced directly without appearing for JEE main or only candidates who will be on Top 20 in JEE advanced from their respective board will only be eligible to apply for IIT. Will candidates able to get admission for Dual degree course who did not stand in Top 20 percentile and cleared JEE Main and advanced both? I'm planning to give NIOS exam this April and would like to try for IIT admission. At least, I have to secure 60.60 percentage to appear for JEE Main. Then, after if I manage to be in top 1,50,000, I will able to appear for JEE advance. How much should I score to get in to IIT in JEE Advance? Should I be listed in merit list, na? Am I eligible to appear for JEE without having 12th grade completed as I'm telling I am going to appear for NIOS for this april and JEE and NIOS exam will be in the same month???
