    MELTING OF ICE IS A PHYSICAL CHANGE.WHY

    Melting of ice is a physical change because it involves change only in the physical state of water, from ice in the solid state to water in the liquid state. Moreover, no new chemical substance is formed in the process and this change is reversible. Water can be converted back into ice simply by freezing. 

    Hence melting of ice is a physical change.

    Yes, melting of ice is a physical change because it is a change in only the physical properties of the substance and it can be reversed, i.e, the substance formed can be restored back to their original form. 

    Some characteristics or reversible changes are : 

    • The change is temporary. 
    • The change can be reversed. 
    • It proceeds in both the directions. 
    • No new substance is formed.

    AS YOU SAW THE ICE MELTED TO WATER THEREFORE I CONCLUDE THAT THE ICE IS SIMPLY THE SOLID STATE OF WATER
