Please explain me role of chemistry in textiles.

Chemistry is very important in textile industry. Chemicals are used in dyeing , bleaching etc.Various chemical processes are used to change the textile characteristics.
For example, Starching is done to make clothes resistant to stains and wrinkles .Permanent press process in which the fabric is being chemically processed to make it wrinkle free.
Textiles are exposed to many chemicals before they are supplied into the market, to make them resistant to water, wrinkles, stains, bacteria and fungi.
For example, to enhance crease resistance formaldehyde is used.
