**You need to make a cash memo for the things you bought.**

Before adding, first guess how much money will be needed. Then find the total and check your guess.

Monu prepared the following cash memos:

Check the cash memos and correct them if you find a mistake.

• Add the following:

(a) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 12.50& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 13.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)}}$ (b) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 55.50& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 14.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)}}$ (c) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 30.00& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 31.50& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)}}$

• Subtract the following:

(a) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 25.50& \\ -\mathrm{Rs}& 11.50& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)}}$ (b) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 103.50& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 62.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)}}$ (c) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 19.50& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 7.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)}}$

**Solution:**

As per my guess, the total amount of the cash memo would be around Rs 70.

Total amount of cash memo= Rs 67.50, and our guess was of almost the same amount i.e. Rs 70.

The corrections in the cash memo, prepared by Monu is shown below.

Add:

(a) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 12.50& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 13.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)\mathrm{Rs}25.50}}$ (b) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 55.50& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 14.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)\mathrm{Rs}69.50}}$ (c) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 30.00& \\ +\mathrm{Rs}& 31.50& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)\mathrm{Rs}61.50}}$

Subtract:

(a) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 25.50& \\ -\mathrm{Rs}& 11.50& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)\mathrm{Rs}14.00}}$ (b) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 103.50& \\ -\mathrm{Rs}& 62.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)\mathrm{Rs}41.50}}$ (c) $\begin{array}{ccc}\mathrm{Rs}& 19.50& \\ -\mathrm{Rs}& 7.00& \end{array}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\overline{)\overline{)\mathrm{Rs}12.50}}$

Total cost of one ball, one doll and one toy giraffe = Rs 7 + Rs 8 + Rs 6.5

= Rs 21.5

Total cost = __Rs 21.5__.

Money left = Rs 30 − Rs 21.5

• Two bananas, one pack of biscuits, and two glasses of lemon juice.

Total cost of two bananas, one pack of biscuit, and two glasses of

lemon juice = Rs 3 + Rs 4.5 + Rs 7

= Rs 14.5

Total cost = __Rs 14.50__

Money left = Rs 30 − Rs 14.50

= Rs 15.50

• Three notebooks, two pencils and two erasers.

Total cost of three notebooks, two pencils and two erasers = Rs 15 + Rs 5 + Rs 2
