(1) The weight of aluminium is half the weight of steel

(2) Steel piece will weigh more

(3) They have the same weight

(4) Aluminium piece will weigh more

please explain.

10.(a) If n identical water droplets falling under gravity with terminal velocity v collides to form a single drop which has the terminal velocity 4v, find the number n.

(b) If the velocity of water near the surface of a 6 m deep river is 6 m/s, assuming uniform velocity gradient along the depth, find the shear stress between the horizontal layers of water ( coefficient of viscosity of water = 10

^{-2 }poise ).The soultion given is like -

P = dgh = d(g + a)h' = constant

Then, h' < h i.e., h' < 76 cm

Why have they taken pressure as constant ? Won't it change with the change in acceleration ?

6. An incompressible non-viscous fluid (density $\delta $) flows steadily through a cylindrical pipe which has radius 2R at point A and radius R at point B (at the same height as A) further along the flow direction. If the velocity and pressure at point A are v and P, respectively, find the pressure at B.

7. A cylindrical vessel filled with water upto a height of 2 m stands on a horizontal plane. The side wall of the vessel is a plugged circular hole touching the bottom. Find the minimum diameter of the hole so that the vessel begins to move on the floor if the plug is remove. The coefficient of friction between the bottom of the vessel and the plane is 0.4 and total mass of water plus vessel is 100 kg.
