Is this speech good for the topic, " Mahatma Gandhi - Spirit of Indian freedom fighters ".

Respected headmistress, teachers and all my dear friends. A warm good morning to one and all. Today I am here in front of you all to speak a few words about " Mahatma Gandhi - Spirit of Indian freedom fighters ".
Mahatma Gandhi is widely recognized as one of the twentieth century’s greatest political and spiritual leaders. Honored in India as the father of the nation, he pioneered and practiced the principle of Satyagraha—resistance to tyranny through mass nonviolent civil disobedience.
Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest man of modern India. We loved and respected him. He was lovingly called bapu. He is known as the father of our nation. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. His birthday is on October 2nd and each year this day is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday. His father, Karamchand Gandhi was the chief minister of the Porbandar State. His mother, Putlibai, was a religious woman.
He was one of the persons who converted people’s dream of independence into truth a day through his noble ideals and supreme sacrifices. He is still remembered between us for his great works and major virtues such as non-violence, truth, love and fraternity. He was not born as great but he made himself great through his hard struggles and works. He was highly influenced by the life of the King Harischandra from the play titled as Raja Harischandra.
His says, “Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”
In his boyhood, Mohandas was a shy, average type of student. After passing Matriculation examination, he was sent to England for higher study. In England, he lived a simple life.
He returned to India as a lawyer. He went to South Africa. He fought for the rights of the people there. He worked to improve the lot of Indian people.
After returning to India, he took part in the freedom movement. He travelled all over the country to study the people of India. He saw poverty and suffering all around. He went to jail many times. He followed the principle of truth and ahimsa.
He was a true son of Mother India. Truth and nonviolence were his two great weapons. He worked for Hindu-Muslim unity.
One of the first series of non violent protests nationwide was the non cooperation movement started by Mahatma Gandhi. This movement officially started the Gandhian era in India. In this freedom struggle, the non cooperation movement was basically aimed at making the Indians aware of the fact that the British government can be opposed and if done actively, it will keep a check on them.
Gandhi again took off with another non violent movement known as the civil disobedience movement. This movement was more active than the non cooperation movement and brought about a revolution of sorts. This movement aimed at bringing the British administration to a stop by withdrawing support from everything. A very important movement was that of Salt Satyagraha where Gandhi undertook the Dandi march as a protest against the Salt tax.
The Quit India Movement was launched under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi in August 1942. The main aim for launching this movement was to bring the British to negotiate with the Indian leaders. It was a call for immediate independence of India and the slogan of "Do or Die" was adopted for the same. However the leaders were arrested soon after Gandhi's speech and were put in jail by British officials. Gandhi went on a fast for 21 days demanding the release of the leaders despite his failing health. The British had to secure the release of the leaders.
After the Quit India Movement the freedom struggle got even more intense and passionate. Entire India was united together in the movement for freedom. Everyone contributed what they could in the freedom struggle. The cry of Purna Swaraj or complete independence was raised. After much sacrifices and efforts, India gained its independence on the 15th August, 1947.
On January 30, 1948, he was shot dead by Nathu Ram Godse when he was returning after prayer. The whole world mourned at his death.
Albert Einstein’s message on Gandhi’s 75thbirthday sums up the essential character of his leadership: “A leader of his people, unsupported by an outward authority, a victorious fighter who always scorned the use of force, a man of wisdom and humility who has confronted the brutality of Europe with the dignity of the simple human being and at all times risen superior….”
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
