Application for NEET 2018 has Begun; Open School Students Not Eligible

neet 2018The admission process for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2018) has commenced on the official website for the exam: cbseneet.nic.in. This year, a big change that has been made by CBSE, the deciding authority on the nation-wide exam is that Open School and Private school candidates will not be eligible to take NEET. The official notice says that “Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open Schools or as Private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-UG. Furthermore, study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at 10+2 level also shall not be permissible.”
This means, only candidates who have been regular or full-time students from recognized educational boards can apply for NEET UG 2018. The last date for applying for the exam is March 9, 2018.
The National Institute for Open Schooling or NIOS is the largest schooling system around the world with more than 27 lakh students currently enrolled in 3500+ centres. More than four million students are certified by NIOS.  The new rule for NEET application has brought disappointment for a lot of students nationwide.
Apart from this, there is also an upper age limit that has been set for applicants, which is 25 years (30 years for reserved categories). All these rules are to be implemented with immediate effect, which means there aren’t any ways to work around them and still apply this year. These recent announcements have created a lot of tension and debate among students, academicians and authorities, with many opinions being voiced in favour of making amends in the rules.

NEET will be conducted on May 6, 2018 in offline mode. Students can apply for the exam by visiting the official website at www.cbseneet.nic.in
