24 students have scored 100 percentile in the engineering entrance exam which was postponed twice in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The exam was conducted from September 1 to 6, amid stringent precautions and social distancing measures.

If we look at the number of students that appeared last year, this year has seen a fall. In 2019, the total number of students who appeared for JEE was 11,47,125, whereas this year COVID-19 has had a great impact on the number of examinees. According to the statistics from the Ministry of Education, 6.35 lakh students appeared out of 8.58 applicants.

From social distancing to distribution of masks and sanitizers, the agency ensured that all the rules and guidelines were followed. Based on JEE Main Paper 1 and Paper 2 results, the top 2.45 lakh candidates will be able to appear for JEE Advanced Exam, which can directly grant them admission into the top 23 IIT’s (Indian Institute of Technology).
