In what might be considered a considerably big change in the calendars of engineering and medical aspirants, the HRD ministry has expressed their intention to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), twice in one academic session, instead of just once.
According to Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) Upendra Kushwaha, the Centre was setting up a National Testing Agency (NTA), an autonomous and self- sustained premier testing organisation, to conduct the entrance exams for the higher educational institutions.
This is an endeavour to bring out students’ best possible performance, by giving them ample time and opportunity to prepare for two of the biggest entrance examinations in the country. The NTA will initially be conducting these exams online, which are currently handled by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The move is yet to be given a final nod by authorities. Here’s hoping the decision in either case proves beneficial to students across the country.
