The albatross proved as a christian soul for the mariners.. their ship was stuck up in the middle of icebergs and their ship became immobilise..they lost hope of survival ..then suddenly albatross appeared on the scene.on his arrival, icebergs began to split up,making a way for the mariners ship.his arrival coincides with coming of south wind which took them away from the south pole...everyday it came at mariners ship for food and to play with them and it became a good companian of sailors in that lonely sea sea

The bird is symbolic of nature, which the mariner had no respect for when he shot it for no good reason.  Also, the albatross is seen as a good omen for mariners, so when he shot it, the other mariners were angry with him because they felt that killing the albatross would bring them bad luck, and it did! They all died except for the mariner who had shot the albatross.  Luckily, he realizes that he should have had a greater respect for the albatross (and for nature in general) and he repents and is "saved" from death.

If this ans helped u then thumbs up plz.....

The bird relate to the mariners in the following ways-

1. it cause the wind to flow in the favourable condition when this bird flies over their ship.

2.It is a symbol of angel and regarded as a sacred bird at the time of voyage or any journey.

Hope it helps!!!!!!!!!

On the arrival of the albatross, the ice around the ship splits. As a result, the mariners hail the bird as a messenger of God ("We hailed it in God's name"). They start to feed the bird, which follows them like a guardian angel. However the albatross is killed by the Mariner, which begets him criticism. But the Mariner's colleagues praise him for killing the bird "That brought the fog and mist" (Actually the ship has reached the temperate part of the Pacific). This changes back to criticism when the ship reaches the Equator ("All in hot copper sky...No bigger than the Moon"). The crew feels that they're being plagued by the albatross' embittered spirit.

Hope this helps and hope my answer's not too long!

The albatross came gliding through the fog. The shipmates, who had not seen a single soul, be it of another human or animal, and had grown morose, suddenly felt hopeful. They hailed the bird as a Christian soul and fed it. The bird flew round the ship and soon the ice broke enabling the ship to pass through. Further, a favourable breeze started blowing. At this, the shipmates felt strengthened in their belief that the albatross brought them goodluck. The albatross followed them continously and flew around the ship. It used to come down for food and play at a fixed time. It ate whatever was given to it, may it be something that albatrosses are not known to eat.
