A large number of people in India continue to suffer from food insecurity.
a. Poor people become targets of hunger, food insecurity because of seasonal nature of work, ,most of them are poor agricultural laborers in rural areas and become victims of seasonal nature of agriculture with no regular incomes.
b. Like wise in urban areas the casual workers working in unorganized sector become vulnerable to hunger as they fail to get work throughout the year with no stability in their incomes.
c. It also includes the most vulnerable social groups are the SC's and ST's who have been victims of discrimination and injustice and suffered social exclusion.
d .. In rural areas the Worst affected groups are the landless farmers who are poverty stricken who suffer from food and nutrition insecurity as they have no land to depend upon.
e. It also includes those people who are impacted by natural calamities . Due to hike in prices during natural disasters and increase in prices, poor become the worst target as they cannot afford.
f. If this situation prevails for a long time it leads to starvation deaths and famine
